‘Present Tense’ Safe Space Reading Circle
A reading circle series led by some of the artists in the exhibition ‘Present Tense’ Hauser & Wirth Somerset.
Join Hauser & Wirth Somerset’s ‘Safe Space Reading Circle’, which celebrates texts rooted in the practices of some of the artists featured in the exhibition ‘Present Tense.’
On Sunday 21 April, 2 – 4 pm, Christopher Page will lead a discussion about psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan’s essay ‘The Mirror Stage as Formative of the I Function’ (1949), using it as a lens through which to look at his works in ‘Present Tense.’ The essay forms a major part of the thinking behind Page’s work, as it probes our fascination with images, specular and otherwise.
These events are free, however advanced booking is required. Where possible, text extracts will be made available prior to the event.
