Gel Printing: Six-Week Course 1

This six-week course will introduce participants to the creative possibilities of gel printing, focussing on mono-printing techniques, surface design, and experimental mark-making.

Learners will build skills using gel plates, inks, tools, and various substrates while exploring colour, texture, layering, and composition. Through guided activities and personal experimentation, participants will develop confidence, refine their artistic voice, and create a cohesive body of work.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to prepare and care for gel plates, use key printing techniques (such as stencilling, masking, texturing, and direct mark-making), and apply colour theory and layering methods to produce visually engaging prints.

They will experiment with diverse tools and materials, test different papers, and create a collection of finished prints and/ or mixed-media outcomes.

Throughout the course, learners will maintain a simple process journal to document techniques, palettes, and reflections. The workshop will conclude with the selection and presentation of a small final series or project demonstrating their creative development and identifying future directions for possible independent practice.

Programme Overview

This six-week programme introduces participants to the creative and practical fundamentals of screen-printing. Through hands-on learning, group collaboration, and community-themed design, participants develop technical skills, confidence, and a sense of connection.

Join our 6-week Screen-Printing Programme and explore the art of printmaking in a friendly, hands-on environment. Designed for all skill levels, this creative course guides you through the entire process from designing your artwork and preparing screens to printing your final pieces.

Each session builds confidence, encourages collaboration, and celebrates stories and identity. By the end, you’ll have your own finished prints to take home and a deeper connection to your creativity.

A hands-on, inclusive programme where participants will learn the basics of screen-printing, develop creative skills, and produce prints inspired by individual themes.

Programme Outcomes:

Participants learn the full screen-printing process, build confidence, develop practical skills, create finished printed items, and strengthen community connection.

Adam Grose is a painter and printmaker from Cornwall, living and working in Taunton. He studied painting and printmaking at Southampton Institute (BA (Hons) and at Falmouth University (Master of Fine Art: Contemporary Practice). He is a member of the RWA in Bristol.
