Print in Action Festival
Print in Action – Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October, Ocean Studios, Royal William Yard, Plymouth
Brought to you through Real Ideas, Print in Action celebrates the talent of printmakers from across the South West. More than fifteen professional printmakers, from across the world and the region, will provide workshops, exhibitions, talks and demonstrations throughout the two days.
Key international artists include Polish artist Alicja Habisiak-Matczak who is head of the Intaglio Techniques Studio, and Jolanta Rudzka Habisiak, also from Poland, whose work predominantly centres on the art of artistic textiles, alongside her role an academic teacher and rector of the Academy of Fine Arts. Further UK-based artists include Jemma Gunning, Sarah Gillespie, Anita Reynolds, Peter Ursem, Mary Gillett, Simon Ripley, Luke Wade Sonja Burniston, Victoria Willmott, Alan Qualtrough, Beth Munro and Theo Carter-Weber.
There will be market stalls, food and live music, as well as a fashion show with a variety of prints and patterns created for clothing fashionistas.
Hoardings at Ocean Studios will be dominated by The Truth Wall. A public statement of what is important, directed through the art of print and creativity. The result? A protest and snapshot of what is important to society today.
