PORTAL
Jupiter Showcase gallery presents PORTAL, a brief and exciting exhibition of contemporary paintings by Charlotte Turner and Angove.
Open daily from 10:00 - 18:00
Each artist’s work crosses common ground for this exhibition, as both arrive at the PORTAL threshold through their own independent practice. The paintings investigate incorporeal space, temporal echoes and Irrealist events. Both artists have looked at, and in some cases through the human form and its environment to describe a new kind of individuality that is bigger than the here and now.
Angove says “My work forms answers about humanity rather than pose more questions. This is especially exciting in a time where feelings are more important than facts. I use deconstructed drawing law to investigate what humans were, and what we could be.”
Turner says “My paintings arise from solitary coastal exploration. Childhood memories of this sanctuary rediscovered through adult eyes. Working up layers of paint and then rubbing them back is a smoothing process, revealing perfect imperfections. Portals are gateways to a meditative space where my inner child can play freely.”
Turner has just been accepted into The Newlyn Society of Artists.
Both artists are recent graduates of the Newlyn Art School’s Mentoring Program. Find more about their work on their websites:
