Workshops & Courses
Pinhole workshop with Brendan Barry
Join us at TOSH to learn how to make a pinhole camera and how to develop images in a darkroom.
In this workshop, participants will make and then photograph with their own pinhole camera.
A pinhole camera is based on the naturally occurring phenomenon of the camera obscura and is one of the most accessible and fun ways of leaning about the fundamentals of analogue photography. Images will be captured on to light sensitive silver gelatine photographic paper and then developed into a paper negative in a darkroom constructed in the space.
One of the focuses of the workshop will be on enabling and teaching participants all they need to know and what resources and equipment they will need to repeat what they have learnt during the day so they can continue using their cameras afterwards at home.
Brendan Barry is an expert on camera making and alternative photographic processes and there will be plenty of time during the workshop to discuss more complex and advanced camera building and image making techniques and approaches for those who are interested.
On Thursday 16th Feb, 7pm at B.A.D. Brendan will also be talking about his practice alongside his work in our BEAF 2023 Festival in June, so please feel free to come along to that too. Tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/artist-talk-from-brendan-barry-tickets-528462384217
