‘Ostara’ ~ Ali Bassett & Elizabeth Loveday
Opening Preview: 6 – 9pm Thurs 14th March continues until 30th March
“Ali Bassett & Elizabeth Loveday live & work in Penzance, Cornwall, both taking inspiration from folklore, Cornish & Celtic tradition. Working both with paint & stitch, work is woven together to tell handed down stories & celebrations of time & place.
In Penzance you cannot miss the seasonal turning of the wheel of the year, Ostara (the spring equinox) falls exactly in between Golowan & Montol, the two biggest Penzance festivals celebrating the summer & winter solstices. Ostara brings balance, light & dark in equal measure, the March worm moon brings high spring tides & the earths waking up, fertile & renewed.
These artworks aims to celebrate & illustrate the ancient traditions & stories; the spring flowers, feasting, dancing & fires as we connect with nature, the earth & one another, as do all folk tales & folk art handed down through the years.”
