Lisa Traxler: TIME TRAVELLER
History and architecture collide in Traxler’s solo exhibition to create an immersive landscape within the gallery setting.
OPENING EVENT: SATURDAY 2nd JULY 2022 from 1-3pm
Lisa Traxler: Time Traveller
“We all have our time machines, don’t we. Those that take us back are memories…And those that carry us forward, are dreams.” H.G. Wells.
In 2020 Lisa Traxler was awarded first place in Southampton City Art Gallery’s Open Exhibition with her sculpture, ‘Time Traveller – Voyager’ which was inspired by a painting from Southampton’s Maritime and Local History Collection ‘Approach to the New World (Olympic)’ by artist Norman Wilkinson.
Taking her winning entry as a reference point, history and architecture collide in this exhibition to create an immersive landscape within the gallery setting. Alongside dazzle artworks the artist has created a new series of sculptures transforming and dissecting previous works.
