Letters for Palestinian Childhoods

Letters for Palestinian Childhoods from around the world.

Private View: Fri 3rd, 5 - 9 pm (speakers 7 - 8.30 pm)
Open Daily: Sat 4th - Mon 6th, 10-5 pm (Sunday - masked, 50% capacity opening)

The artworks and letters at this exhibition have been produced by people around the world to express their ongoing distress regarding the impact of the Israeli state on Palestinian children. The exhibition aims to counter dehumanising narratives about Palestinians, showing solidarity by attending to the names, stories, experiences, dreams, and struggles of Palestinian children and the actions of the Western-backed Israeli state which are so violently shaping their lives. The exhibition is holding space for people to come and be with the issue and, if they'd like to, express their feelings about it through art and writing.

Expect:

- a place for visitors to draw, write and hang their own images, letters and notes, available throughout the weekend

- an audio of each person reading their letter playing continuously, and QR codes for each letter if you prefer to listen on headphones

Speakers on Palestine throughout the weekend, more TBC but confirmed names include:

Dr Ron Mendel: I am a Jewish American who has fought for Palestinian rights for years. Towards that end, I have given talks on my personal journey as a campaigner, identifying the influences on my development. As part of my commitment, I have been volunteering at the Palestine Museum for over five years.

Peace: I'm a volunteer at the Bristol Palestine Museum. I've been to the West Bank five times: three solidarity football tours, three months teaching English in Hebron, and participating in the Bethlehem Marathon. Each time I volunteered with HIRN (Hebron International Resource Network).

Rowland Dye: I'm from Bristol. I visited Westbank three times from 2005-2007 and made documentary films which have been shown on international TV channels. BPSC volunteer.
