Komposition
Komposition is an exhibition of new works by Brian Gibson, that includes works on paper, interventions and audio collaborations. The content of Komposition revolves around the use of pianola scrolls as a creative medium. Over 100 years old these punched paper rolls were an early form of coding and a forerunner of MIDI notation. Gibsons work incorporates framed sequences, spliced edits and text, drawing parallels with film, photography and magnetic tape. Influenced by East Asian scroll painting, Muybridge, Steve Reich and William S. Burroughs, the show includes collaborative works with creative technologists Dave Webb and Merlin Goldman.
