INK_PRINT
An exhibition showcases the work of three contemporary Gemma Trickey, Jo Norman and Carl Middleton.
INK+PRINT
This exhibition showcases the work of three contemporary printmakers living and working in Somerset. Prior to this exhibition they had never met and never discussed their work. This exhibition
marks the beginning of their creative dialogue.
Gemma Trickey’s discipline is linocut, generating decorative and elaborate compositions - taking inspiration from the Art and Craft movement, medieval illuminated manuscripts and folk art.
Her work winds a modern narrative in ink on paper, stories of buried treasure and folk songs, cut and printed in infinite detail. www.gemmatrickey.com
Jo Norman’s work explores the qualities of screen printing and Risograph - techniques which allow her to develop and explore layers of colour and shape with individual motifs, creating infinite
combinations. Her palette is neon, everything pops off the page, in expressive juxtapositions of colour, line, tone and symmetry. www.jo-norman.co.uk
Carl Middleton puts a modern twist on the centuries old practice of letterpress printing - contemporary dialogue set in vibrant colour, layered in complex, analogue compositions. Overheard conversations, disregarded shopping lists and dictionary definitions are his inspiration. Affording a slow, contemplative textual narrative. www.carlmiddleton.co.uk
The exhibition is open to the public from January 10th to February 5th 2022
