In Conversation: Richard Waring and Atsuhide Ito
Can artists save the world and can art schools help them do it?
As part of Bridport Art Centre’s current exhibition Grad Race, artists and teachers Atsuhide Ito of Solent University in Southampton and Richard Waring of Arts University Bournemouth will lead a dialogue with students and members of the audience about all things art school.
Having experienced Fine Art education from both sides, Richard and Atsu will reflect on how to make the most of this dynamic environment and the challenges of navigating a career after university, the relevance and value of the critical/theoretical framework within universities, and the role of art in the context of wider societal discussion. In other words - how do art schools bridge the gap between education and the ‘real world’?
Join us in the Allsop Gallery at Bridport Art Centre at 6.30pm, Friday 24th March. Refreshments will be available at the bar from 6pm.
