Drawing on the material processes explored in Spike Island’s exhibition, Phillip Lai: RAIN / RUIN, Lisa and Mark will guide you through an experimental process of making and re-making objects, creating parallel imprints of the material world around us.

Participants are invited to create clay forms through a combination of hand building, moulding and throwing on a potter’s wheel. These forms will then be cast in plaster, mimicking the industrial processes used to create everyday objects.

This workshop is open to all ages and abilities – children should be supervised by an adult. All equipment is provided, but participants are also encouraged to bring objects to create unique imprints.

Please note: Participants should wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy.

I Am Making Art

These regular activity sessions are led by artists and visual practitioners. Visitors of all ages and abilities can try out new techniques and approaches to making art, from drawing and painting to collage, sculpture and animation. All materials are provided.
