High Fire Ceramics
Explore all aspects of making work for firing at high tempuratures in the new Lyde Green Pottery wood firing kiln.
Artist Phil Root and Ed Hill will cover aspects of making for high fire ceramics which can be taken into all aspects of studio pottery and ceramic making.
The course will be structured as follows:
Week 1 - High Fire clay bodies, types of clay, inclusions, effects of firing etc
Week 2+3 - Making sessions, including throwing for larger forms with Ed Hill
Week 4 - Making and using glazes for wood fired reduction incl. Celadon/Temoku family, Shino and Wood Ash.
Week 5 - Firing work in the Lyde Green Pottery kiln
