GOLDEN OCTOBER
Save the date for a weekend-long celebration of creativity
CAST’s ‘Golden October’ is an open weekend, an opportunity to look around and join in.
Whether you are a CAST regular or someone who has not yet visited, we hope you will come and explore our lovely old building, discover what goes on in the artists’ studios, drop in on our free workshop activities or book for one of the special sessions, find out about memberships and teaching offered by Clay Trap ceramic studio, and meet friends in our welcoming café. Of course we are also hoping for some late October sun!
We want to share and celebrate the renovation work that has been achieved with the public funding CAST has received from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. We won’t have finished everything, but we now have handsome new roofs and solar panels, insulation has been fitted in the roof spaces, and the fine Venetian Gothic windows at the east end of the building have been renovated and redecorated. The building is more resilient and its life has been extended for many years to come.
This significant programme of work, along with many of CAST’s learning activities during 2023 and 2024, has been made possible by funding by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Some renovations will continue through the winter months, but, at this important milestone, we want to invite the whole community to celebrate and enjoy the fruits of the investment in this special heritage building – a place for art, culture and learning that is open to all.
On Friday 25 October there will be a talk by celebrated artist Mike Nelson.
On Saturday 26 October, you can join a walk from CAST to Gweek, drop in to free block printing, book to make a free tri-chromatic print, reserve a place to decorate a beaker or make a seaweed pressing, visit artists in their studios or simply enjoy the offer at CAST Café which will be open from 10am to 4pm.
On Sunday 27 October you could explore the fine stone buildings of Helston on a guided walk, join an artist-led walk at Rinsey, drop in to a free portrait pottery or tiny Neolithic vessel workshop, reserve a place to decorate a beaker or learn how to pinch and decorate a pot, visit artists in their studios or simply enjoy the offer at CAST Café, which will be open from 10am to 4pm.
