GOLDEN OCTOBER
Save the date for a weekend-long celebration of creativity.
Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October, 10am - 4pm
Free Admission, all welcome
The 'Golden October' weekend will celebrate completion of the project to renew CAST's roofs – including fitting solar panels, adding insulation, renovating and redecorating the fine Venetian Gothic windows, and replacing roof lights – an undertaking that will make the building more resilient and extend its life for many years to come.
This significant programme of work, along with many of CAST's learning activities during 2023 and 2024, has been made possible by funding by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Some renovations will continue through the winter months, but, at this important milestone, we want to invite the whole community to celebrate and enjoy the fruits of the investment in this special heritage building – a place for art, culture and learning that is open to all.
WORKSHOPS AND WALKS
The entire CAST building, including CAST Café and Clay Trap, will be open for the Golden October weekend, with lots of opportunities to join in. There will be free printmaking and pottery activities, free family drop-in workshops, and some quieter, more in-depth sessions available to book onto for a fee. We're also planning a selection of guided walks exploring Helston and the local area. Look out for full listings and booking details in our October newsletter.
OPEN STUDIOS
Golden October will combine with the annual 'Open CAST' weekend, an opportunity to visit and talk to artists in their studios. The conversion of the old school building into a studio complex and art centre has supported the development of a significant community including around twenty current studio-holders, many of whom also contribute generously to CAST's learning activities and public programme.
