Geology in Print: A Drypoint Workshop with Grace Clifford
Connect with the English Riviera’s ancient heritage through the tactile art of printmaking.
Join geologist and artist Grace Clifford for an immersive, multidisciplinary workshop that bridges the gap between the earth beneath our feet and the paper on the press. Part of the Strata Stories exhibition programme, this session invites you to look closer at the textures, patterns, and forms of the Torbay UNESCO Global Geopark.
What to Expect: The day begins with a guided 45-minute exploration of the Strata Stories exhibition. You’ll sketch directly from geological specimens and artworks, gaining insight into how scientific observation transforms into creative expression.
In the afternoon, you’ll be introduced to the Drypoint printmaking technique. Grace will guide you through planning, incising, inking your plates and producing your prints.
What to bring:
Your preferred sketching materials (e.g. pencils, pens, small sketchbook)
Lunch and something to drink
All printmaking materials will be provided. Please dress appropriately for an art workshop.
