Devon Open Studios - Launch Event
Join us on Friday 10th September for an evening preview of The Sculpture Studio where we’ll be celebrating the launch of Devon Open Studios 2021
The evening will also offer the chance to find out more about how you can enjoy the event on the English Riviera by visiting the 15 Torbay Studios, and view our bursary studio with artist in residence Ian Cox. All complimented by a showcase of works from Devon masters Richard Slater R.I. and Arthur Homeshaw R.W.A
This will be the second year that we’ve hosted “The Sculpture Studio” as part of the Devon Open Studios event, a showcase of talented artists working at the height of their 3D practice in a range of unique materials and styles. It’s something a little bit different, which we love, and we’ve curated works from across Devon for their diversity and quality.
We’re welcoming 6 artists to the venue this year: sculptor Elisabeth Hadley, who specialises in bronze cast figures, both human and mythical; assemblage artist Anthony Barclay, who explores the heritage and mixed fates of his own family’s and others’ fishing vessels; stone carver Ezra Bailey, pushing materials to their limits with his exploration of strength and fragility; vessel maker Jenny Amon who looks at the timeless simplicity of traditional forms and techniques; contemporary ceramicist Sara Evans, creating works which balance quirky humour with serious thematic threads; and artist blacksmith Jonne Ceserani, whose pieces capture form, fluidity and flow.
It’s an exhibition we’re privileged to host and can’t wait to share. During Devon Open Studios, not only do we love to explore the venues ourselves, but welcoming guests for a coffee and a browse of our own offer is a real pleasure, and we happy to help them go off and explore the rest of the artists in the area. You can find out more about our full programme for this year’s event at the link below.
