CKA Mixer: Transforming the Familiar | Jess Pemberton
Join artist Jess Pemberton for some playful digital making in Penryn forest.
During the session participants will use photogrammetry – the process of turning an object into a digital 3D model – as a means to reflect on their work and connect with others through conversation.
Participants will be asked to bring an object that holds meaning to them in their practice or life; this could be anything from a household item to a piece of art. Through guided prompts and paired conversations, participants will share the stories behind their objects, exploring how digitising them might transform the way they see them and the memories they hold.
The group will also venture into Penryn forest to capture elements of the natural landscape, discovering how photogrammetry works differently when applied to the outdoor environment.
No prior experience is needed! Assistance will be available for anyone who needs help with the technical side of things. Participants will also leave with a hand-out that walks them through what they can do with the model post-event.
What you’d need to bring:
- A mobile smart phone with one of these apps downloaded: PolyCam or Scaniverse. If you are unable to do this, feel free to arrive early to the workshop and we can sort it out then!
- An object that holds meaning for you. This should be no more than 1.5m3.
