CKA Mixer: The Power of a Pause | Lucy Beckley

Sometimes, in order to switch on, we have to switch off. In a world that is caught up in productivity and ticking things off our to-do list, this creative writing workshop with local poet and writer, Lucy Beckley, will offer you a cloud gap of time and space where you can turn your attention to what it means to slow down.

It will be a gentle and inviting space to support you to empty your pockets, consider what a pause looks like and spend some time in the company of others discussing how we can make more time and space to pause and restore our creative practice and how we can build in pauses to our day-to-day.

Using a variety of creative writing exercises and prompts from pockets to poetry, from pebbles to patchworks, we’ll spend some time exploring what a pause means, what it can look like and how we can bring more pauses into our everyday life. We will also write some poetry together.

It will be a warm, welcoming and engaging session, suitable for all, no creative writing experience required.

Lucy Beckley is a published writer and poet, creative writing facilitator, workshop leader and community builder based in Cornwall. Her work often explores the extraordinary in the ordinary and she is deeply passionate about opening up access to the arts. She regularly runs workshops for adults, children and organisations and loves to help inspire others to find the joy and magic in writing and unlock their own creativity.

Pricing

This event is free for members of Creative Kernow Associates. CKA members can find their code to book a free ticket on their members portal at associates.creativekernow.org.uk/my-account. There is a small fee of £5 for non-members, just to cover costs as the event is funded through membership fees.

Cancellation

If you can no longer attend the event, please let us know as soon as you can by emailing associates@creativekernow.org.uk - this means we will be able to release your ticket to someone on the wait list.

Tickets cancelled before more than 7 days before the event will be fully refunded.

Tickets cancelled within 7 days of the event will be partially refunded (50%) and tickets cancelled within 24 hours of the event will not be refunded.

Capacity

There is a maximum of 15 spaces at this event.
