CKA Mixer: Slowing down and taking notice | A photowalk with The Photobook Project

This walk will be an opportunity to experience a photowalk, led by The Photobook Project’s Founding Artistic Director Ellie Robinson-Carter

This walk will be an opportunity to experience a photowalk, led by The Photobook Project's Founding Artistic Director Ellie Robinson-Carter, who developed the project as part of her Authorial Practice MA at Falmouth University. The project was initially developed on the walking routes around St. Austell with a local dementia-friendly walking group titled The Happy Wanderers, a group led by national charity Sensory Trust. Together we will walk in the footsteps of The Happy Wanderers, documenting as we go, and collecting found objects to capture the essence of the place and shared experience.

By inviting people to use accessible disposable cameras to document their shared experiences, under themes of their choosing, The Photobook Project CIC captures shared experiences through the lens of those taking part. Evidence shows that walking in nature deepens conversation and encourages connection, and by creating a shared photobook of this experience, individuals are left with a positive and meaningful keepsake.

Alongside taking photographs, we will invite everyone to collect a found piece of fallen nature, which we will collect and scan to create an A6 book to include in the centre of the photobook. We will share a digital PDF copy of the book to everyone after the session. Should participants opt to have a hard copy - at a cost of £13, to cover printing and postage - we will send these via post.
