Borrowed Light
The English Artist is delighted to be exhibiting a solo show of new works by renowned British landscape artist Kirsten Elswood.
Kirsten Elswood explores the atmosphere, emotion and movement of the
natural world through expressive paintings inspired by shifting light and
dramatic skies. Her work captures fleeting moments - sunlight breaking
through clouds, changing weather, and the quiet energy found in forests,
fields and open horizons.
Working intuitively with colour, texture and layered brushwork, Kirsten
creates paintings that balance realism with emotion, inviting viewers into
her landscapes to pause and reconnect with nature’s rhythms. The ever
changing sky is a recurring focus within her work, symbolising movement
and stillness, permanence and transformation.
Her paintings are rooted in a sense of place - in the British landscape - and
she is fascinated by how light can completely alter a landscape’s mood from
one moment to the next, and how those moments are emotionally charged.
Through her work, she aims to create immersive landscapes that feel both
familiar and deeply personal.
The English Artist is open Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm, and Saturday
