Bitesize: Global Plymouth
Join us to explore a new display that places historic and contemporary objects and artworks alongside each other.
This thought-provoking new presentation considers how and why Plymouth’s global histories and collections are being reinterpreted. It features four items from our collection: a tiger puppet from Myanmar (then Burma), a tobacco pipe from Korea, a soldier's uniform from China and 'Black Water Tiger' (2022) by artist Zadie Xa, which was acquired by The Box earlier this year with the support of the Henry Moore Foundation..
Plymouth has historically been a key departure point for journeys and the development of British colonial power: histories that still impact us today. Come and hear how we’re reframing our global pasts and have your say on the future development of a new gallery display.
This event is part of Art History Festival 2024 organised by the Association for Art History.
