Ben Hartley: Hypermaterial
An exhibition of new sculptural & assemblage work by Ben Hartley
Hypermaterial is an exhibition combinig explorations in sustainable, low-impact methods of art-making with the aesthetics and use of discarded waste materials, through the lens of speculative fiction. Imagining a post-apocalyptic future where, following catastrophic climate change, cultural attitudes towards materiality and consumption have drastically changed. The body of work shown in this exhibition posits how artistic production would exist within this imagined society that doesn't produce anything new, and instead scavenges through the heaped remnants of the old world.
The opening event on Thursday the 26th May, includes a performance and costume made in collaboration with London-based movement & performance artist Angel Dust and Bristol-based artist Carter Hawkins.
Exhibition open Friday, Saturday & Sunday 12-6pm.
This event is supported by funding from the West of England Visual Arts Alliance.
