Behind the Scenes Artist Studio Visits: Amak Mahmoodian
Join us for a behind the scenes studio visit at Spike Island.
On this visit, we meet artist Amak Mahmoodian. She will discuss her project 'Dream' (2019 – present), which throws light on dreams, their relationship to our daily lives and connection to the inner states of individuals living in exile.
Over the last decade, Mahmoodian has balanced her life in the UK with displacement from her past, family and home country. The project seeks to capture the dreams and unseen worlds of those who share similar experiences of being exiled from their homeland. Using photographs, videos, texts and drawings, Mahmoodian creates a bridge for visualising dreams to define loss and inner voids in a relatable way. To date, she has worked with 14 individuals of various nationalities.
