ARTIST'S CHOICE | LIBITA SIBUNGU

Neptune Frost (2021) is an Afrofuturist sci-fi musical, set between an otherworldly techno-scrapheap in Burundi and a Rwandan coltan mine. The film follows the relationship between the leader of a subversive hacking collective and an intersex runaway as they rebel against the authoritarian regime exploiting the region’s natural resources and its people.

The film will be introduced by artist Libita Sibungu, who draws on her British-Namibian-Cornish heritage to make work that explores entangled personal histories and collective colonial legacies. Her solo exhibition, ZED LOVE, is currently on show at The Exchange in Penzance.
