Art for Climate Action: Community Projects Sharing Event

Saturday 13th May, 2pm - 4:30pm

Join artists, Lizzie Jones and Harry Meadows as they explore ideas about art, activism and the climate crisis, asking questions such as: what role can art play in bringing about meaningful change? What are the challenges of taking Action on Climate?

2:00pm: Creative happenings with Puppet Back Up

Puppet Back Up will bring their homemade giant puppets, poems, and intentions to speak about things that are important to them (and you) in the main gallery space of GHT and out onto the streets, or into the park. Puppets help us to move beyond our sense of things as they are, to find alternative stories to the dominant narrative and to assist the envisioning of dreams and desires for a better world.

3:00pm: Picnic in the park

Take a break, grab a snack and continue conversations with the artists and other participants in the nearby Queens Park.

3:30pm: Lights, Climate… Action! A Costumed Panel Show

In a live event at God’s House Tower, the panel will perform a costumed discussion on the challenges of taking Climate Action. Taking questions from the audience, the panel will attempt to speak as the plants and technology we use to sense our environment and will be tackling audience questions on a range of subjects, from the local (Does the Climate Action of individuals make a difference?) to the Global (Will technology or degrowth save us from climate breakdown?)

The event will finish at 4:30pm. Please note, the event will start promptly at 2:00pm, please come early if you would like to explore the exhibition beforehand.
