A YEAR IN A FIELD | SCREENING AND PANEL DISCUSSION
Sound is a crucial element in this absorbing documentary, made by filmmaker Christopher Morris during the pandemic.
He invites us to slow down and reflect on the planetary impacts of our brief human existence under the watchful gaze of the Longstone, a 4,000-year-old standing stone that dominates a field in West Cornwall. From Winter Solstice 2020 to Winter Solstice 2021, a string of unprecedented worldwide climate disasters, met by weak global political resolve, are revealed as just fleeting moments under the ever-present and unflinching granite gaze of this ancient marker.
For the panel discussion chaired by cinematologist Neil Fox following this special screening, Christopher Morris will be joined by CAST studio holder Bronwen Buckeridge, who made the field audio recordings, and Claire Stevens, who was responsible for the sound design, to discuss the ways in which sound informs and inflects the viewer’s encounter with this particular piece of ground.
Admission £12.50, including CAST Café supper from 6pm
Booking essential
