A Leg Up
A Leg Up comes about through professional camaraderie, alliances of support and giving artist friends a leg up.
A Leg Up comes about through professional camaraderie, alliances of support, and giving artist friends a leg up. It highlights the opportunities that arise from community and the powerful impact of artist collaboration.
Artists Brooke-Lawrenson, Griffiths, Hardaker-Williams, and Marsh come together to exhibit collectively, demonstrating how different styles, themes, techniques, and materials can share similar perspectives and create sensuous art that resonates on many human levels. Subjects include legs, wheels, animal themes, transportation, uncertainty, certainty, and the artists’ mediums themselves.
Featuring ambiguous realism, textured abstraction, narrative-fuelled drawings, paintings, ceramic works, installations, and serial repetitions, the exhibition spotlights movement, momentum, and the energy that emerges when artists reach out, share ideas, and present work as a form of social practice (Dewey, 1934).
A Leg Up is more than an exhibition; it is a celebration of collective spirit and the urgency that drives art-making forward.
