A DAY OF CLAY
Free drop-in clay workshops and bookable sessions.
In our ground floor learning studio we invite you to make a portrait pot, whilst upstairs, from 10am till 1pm, there will be an opportunity to get a taste of our recent Gabbroic Art Lab for schools by making tiny Neolithic vessels and trying out some of the simple techniques our ancestors used to make intricate decorations. If you'd like to keep any of your creations, Clay Trap will be offering firing at £5 an object, for collection from late November.
There are two more in-depth workshops planned for Sunday afternoon: Clay Trap's lead artists Sarah and Bridie will offer a second chance to join their beaker decoration workshop, helping you to use stencils, sgraffito and coloured slips to create a unique design (£30 including glazing and firing) and pinch potter Hannah Lawrence will lead a three-hour-long Neolithic vessel making and decorating workshop (£50 including a fired and glazed pot to keep).
The black box space will be open for families to explore the surprising properties and history of colour together. Or, if you prefer to get outside, there is a range of walks to choose from...
Full listings for each event can be found on CAST's website: https://castcornwall.art/
