In this recorded event, Outside In give an overview of their work and what they do for artists who face barriers, followed by a member-led workshop.
This event gives an overview of the Outside In charity's work and what they do for artists who face barriers, along with information about Outside In’s Step Up training programme and Artist Development. We also hear from an Outside In Ambassador about their experience working with the charity over the years.
This is followed by an opportunity to work creatively through a workshop with Kaya Nikita, a multidisciplinary artist and Outside In Ambassador who uses paintings, textiles, sketching, novel and song writing, singing and music performance.
Outside In provides a platform for artists who encounter significant barriers to the art world due to health, disability, social circumstance, or isolation. It is an important and rare example of an organisation with national reach championing the work of artists excluded from the art world. It was formed in 2006 at Pallant House Gallery and won the Charity Award for Arts and Heritage in 2013 and the Queens Award for Voluntary Services in 2022. Outside In became an independent charity in 2017 and gained National Portfolio Organisation status with the Arts Council England in 2018. https://outsidein.org.uk/
