The Box Plymouth
The Box is Plymouth's multi-award winning museum, art gallery and archive.
A place where heritage meets contemporary art and archives meet interaction. A museum, gallery and archive. A Kitchen & Bar. A shop. A space for research. A place that you can make your own, and where there's always something new to discover.
The Box brings six outstanding collections of art, human history, natural history, film, photography and archival material together, showcased in a series of exciting spaces.
Our major exhibitions for autumn/winter 2026 are 'The Way We Live' (until 21 February 2027) which explores themes of home, housing and community and the thought-provoking 'Grenfell' by Steve McQueen (until 24 January 2027).
Talks, family activities and special events are also on offer throughout the year.
The Box's standard opening hours are 10am-5pm Tuesday to Sunday and selected bank holidays. Admission is free. Tickets for exhibitions must be booked in advance.
