41/42

41/42 is an independent, unaffiliated, space for showing and small press located on the outskirts of Penzance.

41/42 was founded in 2018 by artist Christopher P. Green and writer Mel Francis, on a curatorial idea conceived in an exhibition where each participating artist introduced another artist, fostering new connections and ‘chance’ collaboration: for one, for two. We are committed to supporting underrepresented artists and independent publishers by offering a platform for exchanging ideas.

At the core of our physical space is an in-house independent arts library comprising artist books, catalogues, journals, zines, poetry and critical writing publications from around the world. The library collection is open to the public by appointment and free of charge. Since 2023, we have also been working directly with artists to produce short-run publications and editions.
