We are seeking to appoint a Small Scale Metals specialist, who is able to instruct, guide and support the work of students in a dynamic Studio environment while working with staff and students across the University to facilitate the many varied needs, modules and workshops that occur during the academic year.


Candidates for this key role would have a degree in a relevant discipline or industry experience. Experience of teaching and/or demonstrating a range of skills and processes which should encompass all aspects of small scale metal work, soldering, general bench work for small and medium scale metals (annealing, saw piercing, filing, drilling, rolling mill), acid etching, enamelling, metal casting (including lost-wax casting), wax carving/modelling, and basic maintenance of workshop equipment, as well as relevant experience in setting up exhibitions, a good level of IT Skills including Adobe Suite, experience with working with Health and Safety regulations, excellent workshop management skills, organisational and interpersonal skills with record keeping abilities. Familiarity or experience of larger scale metalworking, as well experience with other mediums, would be advantageous.
