Job, Call for artists

VASW are recruiting for new Steering Group members

VASW is seeking up to 4 new people to join its steering group. Applications from both employed and freelance individuals are welcomed.

We are particularly interested in applications from those working in the Museum sector and young people; and artists and art workers based or operating in Dorset/Somerset, Plymouth, Cornwall, Gloucester & the Isle of Wight.

VASW is committed to diversity and welcomes applications that reflect our diverse communities irrespective of disability, gender, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Are you an artist or art worker who is actively engaged in the South West’s Visual Arts sector and want to see it thrive?
• Are you an enthusiastic advocate for the visual arts within the SW region?
• Could you play an active role in helping Visual Arts South West ensure they are a strong voice for visual artists in the SW region?

Then you may be just the person we are looking for to join the VASW Steering Group and help us deliver our mission and aims.

WHAT DOES BEING A STEERING GROUP MEMBER MEAN?

You will need to be able to commit to 4 meetings per year, currently planned for 9th March, 8th June, 7th September and 7th December.

The meeting in March is all day and in person (in a chosen South West location) and the other three will be online.

Artists and independent artworkers will be paid a stipend of £150 and also expenses as necessary to cover travel and accommodation for attendance at face to face meetings. Those who are applying linked to an organisation are asked to give their time in-kind as part of their role and where possible to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.

WHAT DOES THE STEERING GROUP DO?

Steering Group Members are the critical supportive friends and advocates of VASW and bring their expertise and perspective of the SW visual arts sector to inform our work, alongside providing knowledge, new connections and partnerships to support us in the delivery of our mission.

Steering Group Members play an active role supporting VASW staff. They contribute to the development of our Business Plan and Programme.

As a Steering Group member there is no personal liability associated with joining. Visual Arts South West is a CIC and there are three Directors who are accountable for the company. Once you have become a steering group member you may be interested in becoming a Director, which can be discussed with the Co-Chair’s.
