New Brewery Arts connects people with the hand-made, promotes the joy and fulfilment of making and celebrates the role of craft and creativity in all our lives. We are run by a small team, governed by a Board of Trustees, providing strategic direction and support. The Board of Trustees meet on a quarterly basis, on-site. Trustees are also involved in a number of sub-committees (which often meet virtually). In order to ensure effective governance and support for the team, we seek to balance the range of skills and experience amongst the Trustees to match the needs of the organisation.

Trustees
Our Trustees play a crucial role in setting the strategic direction of the charity and ensuring good governance. Trustees contribute to ensuring that the charity fulfils its mission and operates effectively.

Chair of Board of Trustees
The Chair leads the board, ensuring that it governs the charity effectively, in service of the charity’s values, vision and mission. The Chair leads in an inclusive way, supporting the board to work together well, and providing support and challenge to the Chief Executive Officer.

Whilst we don’t expect all Trustees to be expert in all areas of governance, or to have even been a trustee before, we want to ensure that collectively the Board is able to provide the organisation with access to a range of knowledge, skills, and experience to operate effectively.
Collectively members of the Board of Trustees must:

Ensure good governance of New Brewery Arts

Commit to the vision and values of New Brewery Arts

Contribute their skill and expertise fully to the Board’s collective decision-making

Act as ambassadors for the charity

Actively support New Brewery Arts’ fundraising activities

Accept the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship

Be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to the role and in particular be available to attend Board meetings, support the CEO and attend events as appropriate, and participate in sub-committees or groups as agreed
