The Burton at Bideford seeks to recruit new Trustees

The Burton at Bideford has been a registered charity since 2016 and is currently looking to recruit three new Trustees to the Board. As well as a registered charity, the Burton also became an Arts Council Funded National Portfolio Organisation in 2018 and has recently had confirmation of another three years of funding for 2023-2026. We pride ourselves on offering an exciting programme of exhibitions as well as a wide range of other activities including developing educational work, outreach activities, workshops, supporting local artists, volunteers and making the Burton a wonderful place to visit for the whole community as well as visitors to the area.

We are looking for three new Trustees to join our Board. We’d particularly like to receive applications from potential Trustees with an interest in and experience of the arts and with a fundraising, finance, legal or education background but we welcome applications from anyone who feels that have skills and experience to offer the Burton.

We particularly welcome applications from people who are currently underrepresented in the UK arts sector, including those who identify as D/deaf, disabled, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds or living or working in areas of socio-economic deprivation, as well as people from BAME backgrounds and other marginalised groups.

There are between 4 and 6 meetings a year on a Thursday morning. Trustees are also expected to sit on one of the sub-committees which usually meet 2 or 3 times a year.

The role of Trustee is very rewarding, providing an opportunity to give something back to your local community and the arts in the South West. We are happy to receive applications from experienced Trustees or those who are new to the role of Trustee.

You can view the full job profile and information on how to apply on our website.

Closing date for applications: Friday 9 June 2023
