Studio KIND. Summer Open 2025

The Studio KIND. Summer Open is back for the third year, inviting artists in/around Devon to be part of this exciting showcase of creativity and artistic thought from across our diverse region.

Featuring artists at all stages of their careers, the exhibition gives visitors a chance to see the exceptional breadth of work being made across the county whilst strengthening our nurturing and innovative creative community. As an artist-led space, Studio KIND. is dedicated to building the arts in Devon and we are thrilled to bring together some of our regions most exciting artists in our unique space within Barnstaple’s Pannier Market.

Studio KIND. is a not-for-profit arts space and the Summer Open exhibition helps us in our fundraising efforts, allowing us to continue our commitment to making art accessible to everyone, working with our community, supporting artists, and showcasing work we believe in. The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of free art activities for children and families run by local artists.

​The exhibition will run from Wednesday 9th July to Saturday 9th August (with a private view on Friday 11th July). The gallery opening hours are 12:00-17:00 Wednesdays to Saturdays, with workshops and events taking place in the gallery seven days a week.

Application process

There is no theme and we are looking for artists who have a unique point of view. All art forms are considered, including (but not limited to) drawing, sculpture, painting, printmaking, moving image, sound, photography, textiles, and digital. Due to the limitations of the space we are not able to accept large-scale sculpture or installation work.

It is free to apply. If selected, there is a £20 participation fee which goes towards our running costs for putting on the exhibition. Artists are able to submit up to three pieces to be considered. The participation fee remains the same, regardless of the number of artworks submitted/selected.

Work doesn’t have to be for sale, but if you would like to offer your work for sale Studio KIND. will process the payments and take 30% commission.

Please make a note of delivery and collection times as these cannot be changed. We are not able to receive/return work by courier, but we encourage lift sharing and will help facilitate this where possible. We are unable to store packaging material.

We use the parameters of ‘Devon’ loosely, and if you live close to the border you are still welcome to apply.

Key dates

Application deadline: 1st June (midnight)

Successful applicants notified by: 12th June

Delivery of artwork: Sunday 6th June (13:00-17:00)

Private view: Friday 11th June (18:00-20:00)

Exhibition open to the public: Wednesday 9th July – Saturday 9th August

Collection: Sunday 10th August (13:00-17:00)
