Call for artists
South West Artist Commission
The Burton at Bideford would like to commission a South West artist to develop a project responding to the theme of Climate and Environmental Change.
The Burton has developed a yearly commission to support and promote artists from across the South West region. We are passionate about supporting local talent and this commission provides artists with a paid project with the final work accessioned into our renowned permanent collection.
We are seeking to commission a local South West artist, or collective, to develop a piece of work in response to climate change and environmental change, all media considered. We would like the successful applicant to reflect on the ideas of the changing face of our environment either through natural or man-made changes in our environment this may also include reflections on the current Covid-19 pandemic and the environmental changes that this led to.
This creative exploration will result in work/s that will be displayed in the Burton for 6 months before joining the Burtons Permanent Collection to be toured or loaned out.
