KARST has a studio available on a short-term basis (1 – 4 months) between 1 June – 30 September 2026.
KARST has a studio available on a short-term basis (1 – 4 months) between 1 June – 30 September 2026. We’re inviting applications from artists who are seeking a temporary space to develop their practice and become part of the KARST community. Applications are assessed on individual need and potential for growth, with priority given to artists who can demonstrate a sustained practice and clear direction for future development.
Studio 02: 4m x 4.5m at £250 pcm
Dates: 1 Jun – 30 Sep 2026
Studio Facilities:
- 24 hour access
- Limited number of allocated parking spaces
- Full alarm and CCTV system
- Kitchen facilities
- Communal social area
- Meeting / conference room
- Access to a loading bay within studio space
- Artist links on KARST website & social media
- Opportunities for studio visits / critique with art professionals
Costs all inclusive of:
- VAT & business rates
- WIFI
- Utility bills including waste disposal, electricity, water
Access
The studio entrance includes a set of 4 stairs. Once inside the building, KARST is on one level with accessible facilities. Accessible entrance to the building is via the gallery entrance which includes a wheelchair platform lift. This point of entry is limited to public opening hours and by appointment.
Application criteria:
We welcome applications from artists at all stages of practice, including recent graduates, practitioners returning to practice after a period away, and those who have not previously had access to studio space. Artist groups, collaborations, and projects are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants are considered on the basis of:
- A sustained engagement with an art practice.
- A sense of direction or intention in their work, whether established or emerging.
- Engagement with the wider art world in any form, this may include exhibiting, community projects, online platforms, self-organised events, or other modes of sharing and presenting work at a local, regional, national, or international level.
- Willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive studio community.
- A commitment to on-site studio practice, with a minimum of 15 hours per week – we are open to discussing how this works for applicants with caring responsibilities, access needs, or other commitments.
- An openness to dialogue, exchange, and engagement with fellow practitioners from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be reviewed and assessed by a selection panel of KARST staff.
Key Dates
Applications must be submitted by 30 April 2026.
All applications will be reviewed by 1 May, with successful applicants notified by 6 May 2026.
