Public Art Commission for Barnstaple Library Square
Creation and installation of a sculptural bench in Barnstaple Library Square, as part of a refresh of the public space
North Devon Council is currently refreshing the public space in front of Barnstaple Library bordered by the Norman Castle mound, Barnstaple Library, Tuly Street and the Cattle Market car park. This area is at the heart of our historic town and provide space for library users and other to gather and rest as well as a space for events and activities.
The nature of the space means that the artwork must be resistant to vandalism, including graffiti, and artists must take public safety into account. The artwork is intended to • Celebrate and draw attention to the historic Castle Mound
• Provide additional seating in the Library Square
• Provoke interaction and engagement with passers-by.
Expression of interest by 7/4/23; proposal by 21/4/23; installation by end June 2023
