Job
Project Assistant
Hospital Rooms is looking for a Project Assistant to provide support for a new project at two mental health hospitals in Cornwall.
In 2023, Hospital Rooms will be embarking on an exciting new project with Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust that will culminate in twelve extraordinary new artworks being installed in two mental health hospitals: Longreach House in Redruth and Bodmin Community Hospital. We are looking for a Project Assistant who will work closely with the Senior Project Curator to provide support with all aspects of the project, from ensuring its smooth day-to-day running on a practical level, to building positive, productive relationships with key stakeholders that will lead to a transformation in the way that art and creative activity is built into everyday life on the wards.
This job would suit someone who is in the early stages of a career in arts administration, curating or education and who has two or more years' experience of working for an arts organisation and an interest in the intersection of art and health. We are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated and imaginative, an open and effective communicator, and committed to supportive and collegiate working. You will be spending time on secure mental health wards, so it is important that you are empathetic, warm-hearted and non-judgemental. Owing to the nature of this job and the fact that it requires regular travel around Cornwall, you will need to have your own vehicle.
We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates and those who are currently underrepresented in the visual arts. Diversity and inclusion are a primary focus for us in what we do at Hospital Rooms. This attitude extends beyond our team and through to how we interact and work with patients and staff in mental health units. We are also particularly keen to hear from candidates who are already based in Cornwall.
