Open Call - Queer Screenings
We’re looking for queer filmmakers to submit films and videos for an upcoming exhibition celebrating LGBTQIA+ creatives.
This year, ‘a space’ arts are hosting a Pre-Pride Weekender at GHT, in partnership with Southampton Pride and City Eye, to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community and their many creative accomplishments.
Alongside performances, workshops and a book fair in our Main Gallery, we are looking to provide a platform for queer film-makers to exhibit their work alongside other LGBTQIA+ artists. Your film will be part of a reel of shorts, exhibited in our Project Space across the weekend from Friday 19th – Sunday 21st August.
The work can be about absolutely anything – there is no restriction on theme or subject matter. The film should be between 30 secs and 30 mins long. You do not need any formal qualifications to apply and we will be accepting submissions from all ages.
Submissions procedure
To apply, please send the following information to our Programme Manager, Mia Delve at mia@aspacearts.org.uk by Monday 8th August at 9:00am:
- Your name and contact details (email address, postcode and phone number).
- Access to your short film, either a downloadable mp4 file or a url link to films hosted on websites such as Vimeo or YouTube.
- 50 – 100 words about the film.
- 2 screenshots we can use to promote the film.

Selection process
All submissions will be reviewed by our programming team, which will include Mia Delve, Hannah Preston (GHT Venue Manager) and James Hunter (Programme Assistant).
Artists will be notified if they have been selected to exhibit on or before Wednesday 10th August.
