Open call
Open Call - Performers for Emily Peasgood Exhibition
We’re looking for performers and musical acts to interpret a score by sound artist and composer Emily Peasgood, for an upcoming exhibition this Spring
Composer and sound artist Emily Peasgood is writing a song inspired by Southampton’s changing coastline, which will be the focus of an art exhibition at God’s House Tower, launching in March 2022.
The song will be inspired by the memories and stories of Southampton residents. It will capture how Southampton’s coastline has changed from its history as a spa town in the 1700s, to the formation of docks in the 1800s, their expansion in 1930s and today, as the home of a world-renowned research facility in ocean and earth science and a popular destination for travellers from across the globe.
We’re looking for three musical acts to perform a version of the song at the exhibition launch event on Friday 11th March 2022. Musicians will be sent the lyrics and chords at least three weeks before the event to prepare for the live performance which will be recorded and documented on the night. You can interpret the song freely, rearrange it as you see fit, and perform it in any style and genre. Expressions of interest will be accepted from solo musicians and groups. Please note, musicians will be paid per act, not per person.
