Open Call For Visual Arts Commission

Open call for artists aged 18 — 25 in Bristol with Creative Youth Network.

Creative Youth Network is holding an open call inviting visual artists aged 18 – 25 to apply to. This is a paid commission enabling the successful artist / artist collective to make new work between the months of October and November 2022, have access to studio space at The Station, and to have a final exhibition of the new work in December for the entire month. The exhibition will take place at The Station as part of The Station’s seasonal programme of cultural events for and by young people in Bristol.

Creative Youth Network has received funding from Arts Council England to launch a programme of cultural and creative events, shows, exhibitions and live performances led by young people at The Station. Taking place between October to December, this is the first in a series of seasonal programmes at The Station which will feature commissions for emerging / early career artists. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to apply, this commission is being offered through an open call to artists working in visual mediums. For example: painting, installation, digital, sculpture, photography, illustration, mural art.

This is a paid commission, providing the artist / artist collective £1000 over two months to create and install a new piece of artwork that will take over and be exhibiting in the gallery at The Station from the start of December until the beginning of January.

The successful applicant must be able to commit themselves to this commission and working towards the deadline of the exhibition. They should also be available for the hanging and taking down of the exhibition. The commission process would begin at the start of October, given the artist / collective of artists two months to create the work. Expectation on time provided to the project each week is something that the artist / collective can discuss with CYN at the start of the commission and can be flexible to work around other commitments.
