A funded professional development project for rurally based emerging artists in Devon and Cornwall
OPEN CALL for KINections
a funded professional development project
for rurally based emerging artists in Devon and Cornwall
This is a funded professional development opportunity for rurally based emerging artists in Devon and Cornwall. Including skills training, exhibition opportunities and a supportive peer group, participants will be guided in developing their artistic career.
Led by CAMP (Contemporary Art Membership Platform), an artist-led membership organisation for creatives in Devon and Cornwall, the project will work with Devon-based artist duo LOW PROFILE and Artizan Gallery, Torbay to deliver a programme of support, training, and networking over 15 months, starting in April 2025.
Who is the opportunity for?
*Emerging visual artists based in a **rural area in Devon or Cornwall.
*By emerging artists we mean artists who are in the early stages of their career/development (this includes graduates within 6 years of graduation, those returning to making art after a break, and those whose development has been hampered by life circumstances or lack of resources).
**By rural areas we mean living/working in places with settlements of fewer than 10,000 people, or open countryside / coastal areas.
What do participants get?
The opportunity to be part of a peer-support group of artists developing their professional skills. The artists will be supported by artists LOW PROFILE to help the group to establish itself.
The opportunity to take part in a series of professional practice skill development workshops run by Artizan Gallery.
Opportunities to share and show your art work individually and as part of a group.
Other networking and professional development opportunities.
The aim is that the group will become self-sustaining, equipped with the skills, confidence and connections they need to keep functioning as a group after the initial 15 month supported period.
Funding and Costs
The project is funded by CAMP, Arts Council England, and The Fenton Trust so that it is FREE to participants. This funding is equivalent to £1700 support per artist.
There are funds within the project to offset costs of artists’ travel and other barriers to full participation.
Participants in the project will receive FREE CAMP Membership up to the end of 2026.
Deadline for applications: 24th March 2025.
