Conditions: The final piece or pieces will need to be delivered by Spring 2024
Fee: £2000

The artist will be contracted on a freelance basis and will be responsible for paying their own tax and national insurance. £1000 will be paid on selection.

The fee covers all associated costs.

The Burton has developed a yearly commission to support and promote artists from across the South West region. We are passionate about supporting local talent and this commission provides artists with a paid project with the final work accessioned into our renowned Permanent Collection.

We are seeking to commission a local South West artist, or collective, to develop a piece of work in response to climate and environmental change, all media considered. We would like the successful applicant to reflect on the ideas of the changing face of our environment either through natural or man-made changes in our environment.

This creative exploration will result in work/s that will displayed in the Burton for 6 months before joining the Burton’s Permanent Collection to be toured or loaned out.

Develop a project responding to the theme. All media considered.

In addition, the Artist or collective commissioned may be expected to:

• Give a talk about their work
• Participate in the evaluation process of the commission
