Hauser & Wirth Somerset opened in July 2014 and has welcomed over 900,000 visitors. The Hauser & Wirth ethos sits at the very heart of the gallery—it is a place where art can successfully merge with architecture, craft, learning, community, landscape, food and farming—opening the door for creative ideas and collaborations. Based in Somerset, this full-time position will provide support to the development and delivery learning initiatives.

Working directly with the Associate Director of Learning Europe the role will include, but not be limited to the following responsibilities:

Learning

• To manage all educational tours, activities and workshops for schools, student, and community groups
• Deploy and manage freelance staff where required to support the programme
• Champion access for a broad spectrum of learner groups to Hauser & Wirth Somerset
• Work alongside learning colleagues in other global locations to ensure a holistic approach and consistency to the program.
• Collaboration with Event Teams, Artist Teams, and Gallery Assistants to ensure the education program is embedded into wider gallery activities
• Liaising with Hauser & Wirth Somerset event team and Artfarm to co-ordinate education events into the wider Somerset program
• Maintaining, managing, and ordering all materials and resources required for the delivery of the education program
• Ensure all education events are well documented, reported on, keeping key stakeholders informed throughout the process
• Ensure education requirements e.g. risk assessments, public liability and policies are developed and adhered to

Partnerships

• Manage philanthropic and charity projects related to the local and wider community
• Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Learning Europe, manage the education budget always ensuring best value, and global parity
• Develop the network and contacts of local partners
• Produce sound qualitative and quantitative documentation of the profile of the partnership programs in the UK

Administration

• Provide administration for the research and development of the learning and partnership programme at Hauser & Wirth Somerset
• Producing high quality presentations and reports to reflect the activities, outcomes and impact of the education program, partnerships and collaborations
• Managing invitation mail outs and guest lists for education and partnership events

Required knowledge, skills and qualifications

• A graduate of either a BA or MA in Fine Art, Art History or a related subject, or equivalent work experience of at least 3 years
• At least three years’ experience of administration, education, development of exhibitions and events in a gallery setting
• Evidence of working with children in an education setting and understanding best practice
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organised with an ability to prioritise
• Computer literate – familiarity with Mac OS is desirable
• Candidate should be meticulous with attention to detail
• Proactive attitude
• Team player

This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, based at the gallery. The candidate may occasionally need to work additional hours.
