Open Call for Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus public art commission
Lead Artist required for a two-year collaborative public art commission
An exciting opportunity for a Lead Artist to catalyse a network including local artists, communities and partner organisations to deliver artwork that engages people with the potential of the new University of Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus next to Bristol Temple Meads Station.
Charting Change is a longitudinal project that will explore the industrial histories of the site alongside its technological futures, to contribute towards a contextually relevant identity for the future campus.
We are looking for an artist whose practice is characterised by imaginative approaches to collaboration to lead the project and work with Bristol communities to co-produce a shared narrative of place.
The Lead Artist will develop a range of temporary art outcomes to build awareness of the new campus during construction and translate this research and dialogue into a permanent artwork.
Key requirements:
• This is a role for an experienced artist with established networks across Bristol and the West of England
• The artist will be expected to convene a collective of local artists and community to collaborate on a series of temporary outcomes for the new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus
• The temporary outcomes will inform a permanent work of public art for an engagement space in the new University of Bristol buildings
• The artist will be required to work at regular intervals across the 2-year period
• The artist will be supported by the University of Bristol Public Art Coordinator and Contemporary Art Society *Consultancy who manage the University’s public art programme
