Join the RAMM Community Panel
We’re currently looking for 12 new recruits to form our community panel, giving local people the opportunity to help shape our museum programme.
- Are you passionate about Exeter and its community?
- Would you like to get involved in understanding how museums work?
- Could your life experiences offer us new insights?
- Do you have ideas on how to make museums welcoming for everyone?
- Would you like the chance to influence the programme and activities of Exeter’s museum?
In 2023 Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) launched a new Community Panel to give local people the opportunity to help shape the creative programme and wider activities at the museum. After a successful two years the current panel have reached the end of their term.
We are therefore looking for 12 new recruits to form our community panel. No formal qualifications or experience are necessary, and we’re keen to hear from a wide range of people, from different backgrounds, who have a passion for culture and entertainment in their many forms. This panel will provide independent feedback and ideas from a community perspective to support the development of our programme and activities. We want to ensure that the museum is accessible to all and reflects the interests of our local communities, we will therefore strive for the panel to reflect the diverse community of Exeter and Devon.
What’s involved?
- All panel members will be invited to attend an informal introductory meeting and ‘get to know you’ session.
- We will then meet once every 3 months at RAMM. The meeting will last approx. 2-hours and be held in the evening from 6pm to 8pm. Refreshments will be provided.
- There will be materials to review, prior to the meeting.
- We ask that panel members commit to attending the panel for a minimum of a year (e.g. 4 meetings).
- During these meetings, we may ask for feedback on a specific exhibition or event programme, or ask people to contribute their ideas to the planning of an engagement programme, or give your views on our plans and policies For example, panel members may be asked to discuss what would make them visit an exhibition, their views on the types of events that would encourage them to come to the museum, or to assist us in the evaluation of community engagement projects. The different projects you will be involved with promise to be varied and engaging.
