We are looking to appoint a Communities Curator, who will be a key member of our Engagement and Learning team. The role will assist in the delivery of our acclaimed and innovative programme for schools, colleges, community groups, young people, families, adults, and older people.

The Communities Curator will co-ordinate the JHG Ambassadors Programme and help to establish the Beacons Programme for entry-level creative employees. They will generate new projects with community and artists, feeding into fresh approaches to co-creation and socially engaged practices.

Experience of working in a similar role and environment is essential, along with a good knowledge of engagement and learning within a contemporary art setting. Experience of multi-tasking and outreach work is important.

We have a dedication to fairness, diversity, equality and inclusiveness, making art accessible to all.

John Hansard Gallery plays an active role in the cultural life of Southampton and the region. We are locally engaged and internationally recognised. The Gallery began in 1979, entering a new chapter in its history in 2018 when we relocated to Southampton’s Cultural Quarter. Our exhibition spaces are now much larger, with a dedicated education space. This has led to a positive impact, both in terms of programming and reaching new and different audiences.

We are committed to equality of opportunity in employment and encourage applications from all sections of the community.

If you are interested in either position, there will be an opportunity to meet Lynne, Dick, Head of Programme (Engagement and Learning) on Tuesday 13 December to find out more about the role.

Please contact lynne@jhg.art for more information and to book a time slot.

This role is subject to DBS clearance at enhanced level.
